In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji –Jumanji plays you. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…
Well lets begin with the way of the characters were interacting; it was not bad but it wasn’t that good either and you could feel there’s something in the entire way and that’s Jumanji. Meaning that the first Jumanji was a success in the old glory days but this Jumanji was just…ok. Sure the actors did their best but the script was terrible. “Smoldering”? Come on!
Plus the story telling that the Principal taking the students to detention just to remove staple pins from books or magazines or comics was a bit absurd and was a copycat move from the new Power Rangers movie only adding the “removing of staple pins” was a bit dumb.
Exploring Jumanji was ok especially showing the Map but the location names were stupid. The visual effects were terrific as well as the audio was superb especially if you’re watching it in IMAX.
The final scene of the movie wasn’t bad but the romance was in good hands at least the writers got something right; loving someone who got your back is the ultimate sacrifice.
This is the Review Studio verdict; signing out.
